The 90/10 Rule

RANDY BROWN-90% of the Game is Playing away from the ball vs. playing with the ball in your hands.  Less than 5 minutes a game ball is in player’s hands.  Antwan Jamison---NC vs. Duke, he scored 31 points and had the ball for 48 seconds in his hands.
  • DON’T FIND the ball, DON'T be a BALL MAGNET, LET the BALL FIND YOU! It will end up in your hands!
  • Playing away from the ball efficiently is opposite of BALL WATCHING. The best way to catch the ball is to NOT watch the ball!
  • Don’t be predictable.
  • Using changes of speeds and directions.
  • You must RUN THROUGHT THE BALL every time you catch!
ZIG ZIGLAR—The more you help others get what they want, the more you get what you want! Same for playing away from the ball!

How Bad Do You Want It?

This story was told to us by Corey Harris as his closing thought 2 years ago.  Inspirational if you need inspiration, a reminder, "What do you want to do with your life?"  and "How bad do you want it?"

I have been challenging myself to read a book a week.  Here is something I wanted to share, it is from Katie Couric's book, "The Best Advice I Ever Got."  The book is full of excerpts from many successful people, all walks of life, they give advice, or snapshots of their life and adversities they had to overcome.  I really liked the following:

General Ray Odierro
United States Commander in Chief

"Real Success"

I agree with William Arthur Ward that "greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige.  It is discovered in goodness, humility, service, and character."
